Social Semiotics is a journal that publishes high quality papers that deal with the study of communicational resources and practices through words, images, behaviours, settings, sounds, design, etc, and the way these are connected to the organization of societies and everyday lives. Articles can include linguistic analysis, visual analysis, content analysis, ethnography, interviews, production studies and can be tied into political economic analysis. Social semiotics is critical sign study which is aware of the specific and strategic ways in which signs are created, used and received in different domains. It is a form of enquiry applied to specific instances and problems. It asks 8216;8216;what kinds of semiotic resources are used in specific institutional or social contexts and how do these reflect and conceal specific interests, power relations and communicative strategies?''. The Southern Communication Journal (SCJ) is the nationally and internationally read scholarly publication of the Southern States Communication Association (SSCA). SCJ publishes original scholarship that makes significant contributions to understanding human communication. By virtue of the prevailing multilingualism of both the Editorial Board and the Advisory Board, the platinum open access journal Studies in Communication Sciences (SComS) provides a unique forum for exchange among media and communication scientists in English, German, French, and Italian. As SComS is based in Switzerland at the German, French and Italian-speaking intersections of the world, the journal’s mission is to showcase the developments in communication sciences in these language areas. The journal proposes a multidisciplinary approach to communication sciences that is quite unique. SComS is becoming a home to different traditions, disciplines, contexts and methodologies, all dealing with communication in its different facets.

Studies in Language (SL) provides a forum for the discussion of issues in contemporary linguistics from discourse-pragmatic, functional and typological perspectives. Areas of central concern are: discourse grammar; syntactic, morphological and semantic universals; pragmatics; grammaticalization and grammaticalization theory; and the description of problems in individual languages from a discourse-pragmatic, functional, and typological perspective. For regular article contributions, the priority of a typological and cross-linguistic perspective is high: Articles on one language are welcome if of interest to the generalist/universalist. Likewise, interdisciplinary studies are welcome to the extent that they have the same perspective. In addition to regular articles, SL welcomes short contributions that report on new discoveries in little-known and/or endangered languages, emphasizing description over theory and comparison, and that are published in a special section to the journal. A premier journal, Symbolic Interaction presents work inspired by the interactionist perspective on society, social organization, and social life. It is the major publication of the Society for the Study of Symbolic Interaction. The journal welcomes contributions from all scholars working, empirically or theoretically, within the broad tradition of social science inspired by American pragmatism and its European counterparts, as well as those wishing to engage in debates with that tradition. The journal publishes research that develops interactionist theories, generates new methodological directions and ideas, and studies substantive topics from the interactionist perspective. It recognizes the increasing global interest in interactionist approaches, and actively encourages submissions from scholars working from a variety of affiliations.

Target promotes the scholarly study of translational phenomena from a thoroughly interdisciplinary and international point of view. Rather than reducing research on translation to the practical questions asked by translators, their committers or their audience, the aim is to examine the role of translation in communication in general, with emphasis on cultural situations and theoretical, methodological and didactic matters. Attention is given to the relationship between translation and the societal organisation of communication. Target provides a forum for innovative approaches to translation. It publishes original studies on theoretical, methodological and descriptive-explanatory nature into translation problems and corpora, reflecting various socio-cultural approaches. The review section discusses the most important publications in the field in order to reflect the evolution of the discipline.
