The Journal of Biochemical and Molecular Toxicology is an international journal that contains original research papers, rapid communications, mini-reviews, and book reviews, all focusing on the molecular mechanisms of action and detoxication of exogenous and endogenous chemicals and toxic agents. The scope includes effects on the organism at all stages of development, on organ systems, tissues, and cells as well as on enzymes, receptors, hormones, and genes. The biochemical and molecular aspects of uptake, transport, storage, excretion, lactivation and detoxication of drugs, agricultural, industrial and environmental chemicals, natural products and food additives are all subjects suitable for publication. Of particular interest are aspects of molecular biology related to biochemical toxicology. These include studies of the expression of genes related to detoxication and activation enzymes, toxicants with modes of action involving effects on nucleic acids, gene expression and protein synthesis, and the toxicity of products derived from biotechnology. Given the rapid development of the field of toxicology during the last few decades and the fundamental importance of biochemical mechanisms in all aspects of toxicology the Journal of Biochemical and Molecular Toxicology is of interest, not only to active investigators in the field but to many other scientists. These include other biochemists, molecular biologists, and toxicologists involved in industrial and contract research and testing laboratories, and those involved in legal and regulatory work related to toxic chemicals. The Journal of Biochemical and Molecular Toxicology is published bimonthly with one volume of 6 issues per calendar year.

The Journal of Bioethical Inquiry is a forum for discussing and debating ethical, cultural and social issues arising in medicine, the health sciences and health care in general. Coverage includes core areas of conventional bioethics, such as research, clinical practice and medical technology. The journal also addresses questions of pressing contemporary relevance, such as the implications of current world events for the health of populations, and critical analyses of specific social policies around the world and their likely impact on health and welfare and systems of power. In addition to original research, regular features include: New developments; Reader Response; and case scenarios with commentaries.

Journal of Biological Rhythms primarily offers papers describing original research into all aspects of biological rhythms. Emphasis is placed on circadian and seasonal rhythms, but papers on other rhythms are also published. In addition to original research papers, the Journal publishes reviews, commentaries, editorials, letters, and other items of interest related to biological rhythms. Research in circadian, seasonal, and other biological rhythms is interdisciplinary. Authors have backgrounds in, and use the approaches of, ecology, neurobiology and behavior, psychology and psychiatry, endocrinology, developmental biology, pharmacology, cell biology, biochemistry, genetics, molecular biology, and mathematical modeling. The work presented is relevant to each of these disciplines, and others. Rhythms are placed within the context of the functional significance of these rhythms for the health and well-being of relevant organisms, including humans.Every other month, the Journal presents work at the leading edge of understanding the basic nature, mechanisms, and functions underlying the generation, entrainment, and expression of biological rhythms in plants, animals, and humans.

The Journal of Biomedical Informatics (formerly Computers and Biomedical Research) has been designed to reflect a commitment to high-quality original research papers, reviews, and commentaries in the area of biomedical informatics. Although we publish articles motivated by applications in the biomedical sciences (for example, clinical medicine, health care, population health, imaging, and translational bioinformatics), the journal emphasizes reports of new methodologies and techniques that have general applicability and that form the basis for the evolving science of biomedical informatics. Articles on medical devices; evaluations of implemented systems (including clinical trials of information technologies); or papers that provide insight into a biological process, a specific disease, or treatment options would generally be more suitable for publication in other venues. Papers on applications of signal processing and image analysis are often more suitable for biomedical engineering journals, although we do publish papers that emphasize the information management and knowledge representation/modeling issues that arise in the storage and use of biological signals and images. System descriptions are welcome if they illustrate and substantiate the underlying methodology that is the principal focus of the report and an effort is made to address the generalizability and/or range of application of that methodology.The methods that are the focus of JBI papers may be drawn from any of a number of component sciences in the field of biomedical informatics. Although the methods are often related to the field of computer science, many JBI papers will emphasize innovative techniques from other fields, such as decision science, statistics, cognitive science, psychology, information science, or management science.

Journal of Biomedical Materials Research Part A The Journal of Biomedical Materials Research is an international, interdisciplinary, English-language publication of original contributions concerning studies of the preparation, performance, and evaluation of biomaterials; the chemical, physical, toxicological, and mechanical behavior of materials in physiological environments; and the response of blood and tissues to biomaterials. The Journal publishes peer-reviewed articles on all relevant biomaterial topics including the science and technology of alloys, polymers, ceramics, and reprocessed animal and human tissues in surgery, dentistry, artificial organs, and other medical devices. The Journal also publishes articles in interdisciplinary areas such as tissue engineering and controlled release technology where biomaterials play a significant role in the performance of the medical device. Nanotechnology, dealing with functional structures and materials smaller than 100nm, is emerging as a truly interdisciplinary research area spanning several traditional scientific disciplines. In keeping with the growing trend, there is a strong need for a platform to share original research related to applications of nanotechnology in biomedical fields. In order to fulfill this demand, Journal of Biomedical Nanotechnology (JBN) is being created as an international peer-reviewed periodical that covers applications of nanotechnology in all fields of life sciences. JBN publishes original full papers and timely state-of-the-art reviews with author's photo and biography, and short communications encompassing the fundamental and applied research aspects. Journal of Biomedical Science is an open access, peer-reviewed journal that encompasses all fundamental and molecular aspects of basic medical sciences, emphasizing on providing the molecular studies of biomedical problems and molecular mechanisms.

Journal of Biomedical Semantics encompasses all aspects of semantic resources and their use in data integration, mining, modeling, interpretation and exploitation in biomedical research.

The Journal of Biomolecular Structure and Dynamics welcomes manuscripts on biological structure, dynamics, interactions and expression. Published by the Indian Academy of Sciences, the Journal of Biosciences covers all areas of Biology and is India’s premier journal within its scope. It is indexed in Current Contents and other standard Biological and Medical databases. The Journal of Biosciences began in 1934 as the Proceedings of the Indian Academy of Sciences (Section B). In 1978 it split into Proceedings-Animal Sciences, Proceedings-Plant Sciences and Proceedings-Experimental Biology. Proceedings-Experimental Biology was renamed Journal of Biosciences in 1979; in 1991, it merged with Proceedings-Animal Sciences and Proceedings-Plant Sciences. Articles span a broad range of relevant topics, including, for example, protein classification by surface comparisons; the contribution of bioinformatics to genome and genomics research, and mathematical modelling of spatio-temporal interactions within the cell.

The Journal provides a medium for the rapid publication of both full-length articles and short communications on novel and innovative aspects of biotechnology.
