A new international and interdisciplinary forum, Fullerenes, Nanotubes, and Carbon Nanostructures, aims at publishing peer-reviewed research of original work in all areas of fullerene research. Functional Materials Letters is an international peer-reviewed scientific journal for original contributions to research on the synthesis, behavior and characterization of functional materials. The journal seeks to provide a rapid forum for the communication of novel research of high quality and with an interdisciplinary flavor. The journal is an ideal forum for communication amongst materials scientists and engineers, chemists and chemical engineers, and physicists in the dynamic fields associated with functional materials.Functional materials are designed to make use of their natural or engineered functionalities to respond to changes in electrical and magnetic fields, physical and chemical environment, etc. These design considerations are fundamentally different to those relevant for structural materials and are the focus of this journal. Functional materials play an increasingly important role in the development of the field of materials science and engineering.The scope of the journal covers theoretical and experimental studies of functional materials, characterization and new applications-related research on functional materials in macro-, micro- and nano-scale science and engineering. Among the topics covered are ferroelectric, multiferroic, ferromagnetic, magneto-optical, optoelectric, thermoelectric, energy conversion and energy storage, sustainable energy and shape memory materials.

The journal accepts papers about experiments (both plasma and technology), theory, models, methods, and designs in areas relating to technology, engineering, and applied science aspects of magnetic and inertial fusion energy. Geotextiles are permeable fabrics which, when used in association with soil, have the ability to separate, filter, reinforce, protect or drain. As the use of geotextile fabrics has expanded there has been the introduction of geotextile composites and the development of products such as geogrids and meshes. Overall these materials are referred to as geotextiles and related products. All have a wide range of applications and are currently used to advantage in many civil engineering applications including roads, airfields, railroads, embankments, retaining structures, reservoirs, canals, dams, bank protection and coastal engineering.Geomembranes are impermeable membranes used widely as cut-offs and liners. Until recent years, geomembranes were used mostly as canal and pond liners; however, one of the largest current applications is to the containment of hazardous or municipal wastes and their leachates. In many of these applications geomembranes are employed with geotextile or mesh underliners which reinforce or protect the more flexible geomembrane whilst also acting as an escape route for gases and leachates generated in certain wastes.The range of products and their applications has expanded rapidly over the last decade with geotextiles and geomembranes being specified world wide. This rapid growth is paralleled by a virtual explosion of technology. Current reference books and even manufacturers' sponsored publications tend to date very quickly and the need for a vehicle to bring together and discuss the growing body of technology now available has become evident.Geotextiles and Geomembranes fills this need and provides a forum for the dissemination of information amongst research workers, designers, users and manufacturers. By providing a growing fund of information the journal increases general awareness, prompts further research and assists in the establishment of international codes and regulations.Types of Contribution:Refereed technical papers covering research, design, construction, applications and case studies; technical notes, book reviews, reports of conferences and meetings, and letters to the Editor. All technical papers are open to written discussion. No limit to length is set and short notes are acceptable. Review articles may also be published at intervals, but the subject and contents of these should be discussed first with the Editor.

Glass Physics and Chemistry (Fizika i Khimiya Stekla) is published bimonthly by the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Institute of Silicate Chemistry. Established in 1975, this journal presents results of structural, physical, and chemical properties in inorganic materials (glasses, ceramics, nanoparticles, nanocomposites, high temperature oxides and coatings) and phase equilibrium in inorganic system by Russian and foreign authors. Now published concurrently in English translation, the journal widens its availability to a worldwide community of glass scientists.

Glass and Ceramics reports on advances in basic and applied research and plant production techniques in glass and ceramics. The journal's broad coverage includes developments in the areas of silicate chemistry, mineralogy and metallurgy, crystal chemistry, solid state reactions, raw materials, phase equilibria, reaction kinetics, physicochemical analysis, physics of dielectrics, and refractories, among others. Glass and Ceramics is a translation of the peer-reviewed Russian journal Steklo i Keramika. The Russian Volume Year is published in English from April.

Although many phenomena observed in granular materials are still not yet fully understood, important contributions have been made to further our understanding using modern tools from statistical mechanics. These tools apply to disordered systems, phase transitions, instabilities or intermittent behavior and the performance of discrete particle simulations on the latest and most powerful computers. Until now, however, many of these results were only to be found scattered throughout the physics literature. Furthermore, physicists are often unaware of the theories and results published by engineers in more specialized technical journals. The journal Granular Matter thus serves as a platform of communication among researchers of various disciplines who are involved in the basic research of granular media. It helps to establish a common language and gather articles under one single roof that up to now have been spread over many journals in a variety of fields.
