The European Journal of Anaesthesiology (EJA) publishes original work of high scientific quality. Preference is given to experimental work or clinical observation in man, and to laboratory work of clinical relevance. The journal also publishes commissioned narrative reviews by an authority in a field of interest to those working in anaesthesiology, pain, emergency medicine or intensive care. With a focus on human integrative and translational physiology, the European Journal of Applied Physiology publishes original research that is considered likely to further our understanding of the functioning of the intact healthy human body under a variety of environmental (e.g. altitude, climatic, gravitational) and exercise conditions. The European Journal of Cell Biology, a journal of experimental cell investigation, publishes reviews, original articles and short communications on the structure, function and macromolecular organization of cells and cell components. Contributions focusing on cellular dynamics, motility and differentiation, particularly if related to cellular biochemistry, molecular biology, immunology, neurobiology, and developmental biology are encouraged. Manuscripts describing significant technical advances are also welcome. In addition, papers dealing with biomedical issues of general interest to cell biologists will be published. Contributions addressing cell biological problems in prokaryotes and plants are also welcome.

EJCI considers any original contribution from the most sophisticated basic molecular sciences to applied clinical and translational research and evidence-based medicine across a broad range of subspecialties. The EJCI publishes reports of high-quality research that pertain to the genetic, molecular, cellular, or physiological basis of human biology and disease, as well as research that addresses prevalence, diagnosis, course, treatment, and prevention of disease. We are primarily interested in studies directly pertinent to humans, but submission of robust in vitro and animal work is also encouraged. Interdisciplinary work and research using innovative methods and combinations of laboratory, clinical, and epidemiological methodologies and techniques is of great interest to the journal. EJCMID is an interdisciplinary journal devoted to the publication of communications on infectious diseases of bacterial, viral and parasitic origin. The journal welcomes full articles presenting original research results, invited editorials, and reviews on the following topics:General epidemiology and diagnostics of infectious agentsClinical infectious diseases researchGenetics and phenotypes of host susceptibility towards infectious disease or colonizationUse of animal models to study bacterial infections and the imaging of such infections

Studies should primarily be performed from a mechanistic point of view with emphasis on the inter-relatedness of molecular features with clinical presentation of infections. Papers on the translational application of basic research findings will be prioritized.

European Journal of Clinical Nutrition (EJCN) is an international, peer-reviewed journal publishing articles related to human and clinical nutrition. The scope of the journal includes publishing Original Articles, Invited Reviews, Systematic Reviews, Clinical Trials papers and Short Communications based on clinical, metabolic and epidemiological studies that describe methodologies, mechanisms, associations and benefits of nutritional interventions for clinical disease and health promotion. Editorials, Letters to the Editor, Response to Letter and Commentaries also feature in EJCN. The European Journal of Clinical Pharmacology publishes original papers, short communications, and letters to the editors on all aspects of clinical pharmacology and drug therapy in humans. Coverage includes therapeutic trials; pharmacokinetics; drug metabolism; adverse drug reactions; drug interactions; all aspects of drug development; prescribing policies; pharmacoepidemiology; and matters relating to the safe use of drugs. Data from animal experiments are published only in the context of parallel experiments in man reported in the same paper. The journal also publishes review articles on special problems related to these areas, and encourages debate on controversial issues.
