Water Resources Management

ISSN: 0920-4741eISSN: 1573-1650

Water is at the heart of human civilization. Throughout history, societies have progressed by improving access to clean water for drinking, for sanitation and for agriculture, and by removing contaminants from water to reduce the effects on the environment and improve public health. Our modern society faces new challenges that require innovative approaches to our relationship with water: climate change affects water systems by increasing droughts and floods, which in turn reduce water availability, increase contamination of water resources and eventually affect both drinking and sanitation facilities; and the rising global population generates more stress on water resources and challenges for public health.
Publishing monthly, Nature Water covers all aspects of research that are connected to this evolving relationship between society and water resources. We publish in the natural sciences (primarily Earth and environmental science), in engineering (including environmental, civil, chemical and materials engineering), and in the social sciences (economics, human geography and sociology, among other disciplines), with a particular interest in regards to interdisciplinary research. Our aim is to publish studies that will have an impact on fundamental understanding,  on practical technological applications and on the potential for policy implementation.

Water Resources Research

ISSN: 0043-1397eISSN: 1944-7973
Publisher: Wiley | Society or Institution: American Geophysical Union

Water Resources Research (WRR) is an interdisciplinary journal that focuses on hydrology and water resources. It publishes original research in the natural and social sciences of water. It emphasizes the role of water in the Earth system, including physical, chemical, biological, and ecological processes in water resources research and management, including social, policy, and public health implications. It encompasses observational, experimental, theoretical, analytical, numerical, and data-driven approaches that advance the science of water and its management. Submissions are evaluated for their novelty, accuracy, significance, and broader implications of the findings.

Water Resources and Economics

eISSN: 2212-4284
For the purpose of sustainable water resources management, the scientific assessment of the multiple connections between water resources and the economy is crucial. Water Resources and Economics addresses the financial and economic dimensions affecting the use of water resources, be it water extraction, pollution or allocation, across different economic sectors like agriculture, energy, industry and urban water supply as well as between local, regional and transboundary river basins. Water Resources and Economics aims to contribute to the development of advanced integrated hydro-economic modeling at river basin, national and international scale, water resources valuation, the design and evaluation of water policy instruments, including water markets, and the economics of public water supply, sanitation and waste water treatment in developed and developing regions.
The journal is aimed to economists, natural scientists and engineers. Papers should deal with the changing value of water in its different uses and the evaluation of economic tradeoffs, aiming for the creation of water resource management strategies that are ecologically, socially and economically sustainable. Both conceptual/methodological as well as applied research papers are welcome.

Water Resources and Industry

eISSN: 2212-3717

In association with International Water Association(IWA)

http://www.iwapublishing.comwww.iwapublishing.com

Water Resources and Industry moves research to innovation by focusing on the role industry plays in the exploitation, management and treatment of water resources.
Different industries use radically different water resources in their production processes, while they produce, treat and dispose a wide variety of wastewater qualities. Depending on the geographical location of the facilities, the impact on the local resources will vary, pre-empting the applicability of one single approach.

The aims and scope of the journal include:

  • Industrial water footprint assessment - an evaluation of tools and methodologies
  • What constitutes good corporate governance and policy and how to evaluate water-related risk
  • What constitutes good stakeholder collaboration and engagement
  • New technologies enabling companies to better manage water resources
  • Integration of water and energy and of water treatment and production processes in industry

This new title follows the Universal Access model. Publication charges are waived for authors from developing countries eligible under http://research4life.org/eligibility/Research4Life criteria for access.
