Aims: Molbank is a communication journal of synthetic chemistry and natural product chemistry. It publishes short notes of experimental data records for individual molecules (one compound per paper). Any scattered unassembled experimental data for individual compounds which is conventionally not publishable is particularly welcome. Availability of compound samples is published and considered as important information. Authors are encouraged to register or deposit their chemical samples through the non-profit international organization Molecular Diversity Preservation International (MDPI). Molbank has been launched to preserve and exploit molecular diversity of both chemical information and chemical substances. Scope: organic synthesis, biosynthesis, natural product isolation and derivatization, structural elucidation (X-ray crystallography, NMR, etc.)

The accelerating determination of genome sequences and their interpretation (genomics) has brought with it one of the most daunting challenges to modern bioscience--the concomitant determination of the structure, function, and expression of the corresponding proteins encoded therein. The magnitude of this task is staggering. The difficulties arise at many stages, ranging from protein isolation and identification to structure determination, protein/protein interactions and gene expression, and the answers will require both existing technologies and methods yet to be developed. Thus, this rapidly expanding field of proteomics, a term coined in evident parallel to genomics, is both an extension of traditional biochemistry and at the same time a new and exciting field. Moreover, the magnitude of this effort will produce volumes of data that will dwarf previous outputs and pose severe problems in their own right. The storage, analysis and manipulation of this information, a problem already realized from genomic studies, has spawned a related field generally called bioinformatics. It is likely that these data sets will drive discovery and research that is unparalleled in the history of bioscience and could eclipse, at least in the early stages, hypothesis-driven experimentation. The management of research databases is not a new phenomenon, but the size of the task will require new and innovative approaches.

Primarily fundamental in tenor, MCLC publishes original research papers of both an experimental and theoretical nature in three areas of specialization: molecular crystals (spectroscopy, energy, and charge transfer, solid state reactions, photo and radiation effects); low-dimensional solids (structure, electronic, magnetic, and optical properties, transport mechanisms); and liquid crystals (electro and magneto-optical phenomena, thermodynamics, phase transitions, structure, NMR and orientation controlled spectroscopy). In all three areas, experimental manuscripts describing both preparation and properties will be considered. Molecular engineering employs experimental, theoretical and computational approaches to establish new understanding of molecular properties and behaviours and uses this understanding to design and assemble better materials, systems, and processes to achieve specific functions. MSDE provides a hub for research into new understanding of molecular systems and the use of this understanding in applications of technological significance that help address global challenges.

Our aim is to encourage chemists to publish as much as possible their experimental detail, particularly synthetic procedures and characterization information. There is no restriction on the length of the experimental section. In addition, availability of compound samples is published and considered as important information. Centered around multiscale phenomena, Multiscale Modeling and Simulation (MMS) is an interdisciplinary journal focusing on the fundamental modeling and computational principles underlying various multiscale methods. By its nature, multiscale modeling is highly interdisciplinary, with developments occurring independently across fields. A broad range of scientific and engineering problems involve multiple scales. Traditional monoscale approaches have proven to be inadequate, even with the largest supercomputers, because of the range of scales and the prohibitively large number of variables involved. Thus, there is a growing need to develop systematic modeling and simulation approaches for multiscale problems. MMS will provide a single broad, authoritative source for results in this area. MMS bridges the growing gap in communication between mathematics, chemistry, physics, engineering, computer science, environmental science, and more.

NMR in Biomedicine is a journal devoted to the publication of original full-length papers, rapid communications and review articles describing the development of magnetic resonance spectroscopy or imaging methods or their use to investigate physiological, biochemical, biophysical or medical problems. Topics for submitted papers should be in one of the following general categories: (a) development of methods and instrumentation for MR of biological systems; (b) studies of normal or diseased organs, tissues or cells; (c) diagnosis or treatment of disease. Reports may cover work on patients or healthy human subjects, in vivo animal experiments, studies of isolated organs or cultured cells, analysis of tissue extracts, NMR theory, experimental techniques, or instrumentation. The Journal will not accept any papers that deal solely with body fluids. NMR in Biomedicine will accept for review manuscripts that focus on the use of MRI contrast agents in practical applications, but not those that are primarily concerned with the development, synthesis or ex vivo testing of contrast agents.
