Neuropeptides

ISSN: 0143-4179eISSN: 1532-2785

The aim of Neuropeptides is the rapid publication of original research and review articles, dealing with the structure, distribution, actions and functions of peptides in the central and peripheral nervous systems. The explosion of research activity in this field has led to the identification of numerous naturally occurring endogenous peptides which act as neurotransmitters, neuromodulators, or trophic factors, to mediate nervous system functions. Increasing numbers of non-peptide ligands of neuropeptide receptors have been developed, which act as agonists or antagonists in peptidergic systems. The journal provides a unique opportunity of integrating the many disciplines involved in all neuropeptide research. The journal publishes articles on all aspects of the neuropeptide field, with particular emphasis on gene regulation of peptide expression, peptide receptor subtypes, transgenic and knockout mice with mutations in genes for neuropeptides and peptide receptors, neuroanatomy, physiology, behaviour, neurotrophic factors, preclinical drug evaluation, clinical studies, and clinical trials.Original papers predominate. Manuscripts may be of any length, but must be complete studies; preliminary communications are not accepted. Review articles and hypothesis papers are welcomed, and will be evaluated in the same way as experimental papers. Authors intending to submit a review are advised to communicate their intentions to the Editor, to avoid possible duplication.

Neuropharmacology

ISSN: 0028-3908eISSN: 1873-7064

Neuropharmacology publishes high quality, original research and review articles within the discipline of neuroscience, especially articles with a neuropharmacological component. However, papers within any area of neuroscience will be considered. The journal does not usually accept clinical research, although preclinical neuropharmacological studies in humans may be considered. The journal only considers submissions in which the chemical structures and compositions of experimental agents are readily available in the literature or disclosed by the authors in the submitted manuscript. Only in exceptional circumstances will natural products be considered, and then only if the preparation is well defined by scientific means. Neuropharmacology publishes articles of any length (original research and reviews).Neuropharmacology also publishes succinct topical reviews on subjects within its remit. These reviews (of between 3000 and 5000 words) are commissioned by the Editorial Team or arise after correspondence with potential authors. Unsolicited reviews will be considered, but authors are encouraged to contact the Editor-in-Chief ahead of time of their intention to submit a review and to indicate clearly how the review differs from, and adds to, recent published reviews on related topics. On the basis of the case made by authors, potential overlap with planned Neuropharmacology content, and discussions with the Editorial Team, the Editor-in-Chief will provide authors with a decision regarding their proposed review as quickly as possible. The scope of the journal is broad. It covers many disciplines and spans molecules (e.g., molecular biology, biochemistry) through systems (e.g., neurophysiology) to behaviour (e.g. cognition, psychopharmacology). The journal covers all aspects of neuroscience with an emphasis on neurotransmitters and their receptors, ion channels, signalling, psychcopharmacology and animal models of disease, such as investigations on the neurobiology of cognition, depression, schizophrenia, anxiety, epilepsy, ischaemia, neuroprotection, neurodegeneration, drugs of abuse and pain. The journal publishes occasional Special Issues (and will consider publishing Supplements). Each year Elsevier/Neuropharmacology organise a satellite symposium to the Meeting of the Society for Neuroscience. The journal publishes a Special Issue to accompany each meeting. Please see http://www.neuropharmacology-conference.elsevier.com/ for details of this year's meeting and accompanying Special Issue.US National Institutes of Health (NIH) voluntary posting ("Public Access") policyNeuropharmacology and Elsevier facilitate the author's response to the NIH Public Access Policy. Neuropsychoanalysis

ISSN: 1529-4145eISSN: 2044-3978
Neuropsychoanalysis publishes papers at the intersection of psychoanalysis and the neurosciences. Our journal was founded on the assumption that these two historically divided disciplines are ultimately pursuing the same task, namely, 'attempt[ing] to make the complications of mental functioning intelligible by dissecting the function and assigning its different constituents to different component parts of the [mental] apparatus' (Freud, 1900a, p. 536).  Although the fields have approached this task from radically different perspectives, the underlying commonalities have become increasingly evident as neuroscientists have begun to investigate those 'complications of mental functioning' that were traditionally the preserve of psychoanalysts, such as emotion, unconscious cognition, and interpersonal processes. Neuropsychoanalysis provides an arena for integrating the explosion of neuroscientific insights into existing psychoanalytic theories and models, and for enriching behavioral and cognitive neuroscience, neurology, neuropsychology and related fields with the dynamic perspectives of psychoanalytic thought and practice.

We welcome experimental, clinical or theoretical papers that take into account both mind and brain.  More specifically, papers that emphasize the integration of the dynamic, intrapsychic or interpersonal world of subjectivity and mental life, either conscious or unconscious, on the one hand, and the objective measurements or manipulations of brain structure or function, on the other hand, are invited.  Submissions are subject to double-blind peer review before they are accepted for publication.  In addition, target papers on selected topics are solicited from leading researchers, and published together with invited commentaries from both psychoanalytic and neuroscientific peers.

Neuropsychologia

ISSN: 0028-3932eISSN: 1873-3514

Neuropsychologia is an international interdisciplinary journal devoted to experimental and theoretical contributions that advance understanding of human cognition and behavior from a neuroscience perspective. The journal will consider for publication studies that link brain function with cognitive processes, including attention and awareness, action and motor control, executive functions and cognitive control, memory, language, and emotion and social cognition.Neuropsychologia has a long history of publishing lesion-deficit studies, and these remain highly appropriate for the journal. Submission of papers describing the use of other methodologies – most notably functional and structural neuroimaging, cognitive electrophysiology, and transcranial magnetic stimulation - is strongly encouraged, however. Animal studies are also welcome, provided they have a direct and explicitly specified impact on understanding human cognition and behavior. Studies of clinical populations that are primarily descriptive or intended to elucidate a clinical disorder, or that evaluate a therapeutic intervention, are not appropriate for the journal. Special issues and Review Papers are published regularly with the aim of providing authoritative surveys of topics of major interest.Benefits to authorsWe also provide many author benefits, such as free PDFs, a liberal copyright policy, special discounts on Elsevier publications and much more. Neuroscience & Biobehavioral Reviews

ISSN: 0149-7634eISSN: 1873-7528

The journal publishes review articles which are original and significant and deal with all aspects of neuroscience, where the relationship to the study of psychological processes and behavior is clearly established. Conversely, the journal will also publish articles whose primary focus deals with psychological processes and behavior, and which have relevance to one or more aspects of neuroscience.Submissions to the journal are actively encouraged which deal with topics not only in the more traditional areas, but also in the following areas, whenever the reviews bring new insights into brain-behavior relations:• Neuropsychology• Cognitive neuroscience• Brain imaging• In vivo monitoring of the brain's electrical and biochemical activities• Molecular biology• Genetics• NeurocomputationTheoretical articles and mini-reviews, for which the scope and literature coverage are more restricted, will also be published. We do not publish empirical papers. We welcome review articles from clinical researchers whose submission exceeds the high quality threshold for the journal and significantly advances our understanding of a field.Benefits to authorsWe also provide many author benefits, such as free PDFs, a liberal copyright policy, special discounts on Elsevier publications and much more.
