Genes & Diseases is an international journal for molecular and translational medicine. The journal primarily focuses on publishing investigations on the molecular bases and experimental therapeutics of human diseases. Publication formats include full length research article, review article, short communication, correspondence, perspectives, commentary, views on news, and research watch.

Aims and Scopes

Genes & Diseases publishes rigorously peer-reviewed and high quality original articles and authoritative reviews that focus on the molecular bases of human diseases. Emphasis will be placed on hypothesis-driven, mechanistic studies relevant to pathogenesis and/or experimental therapeutics of human diseases. The journal has worldwide authorship, and a broad scope in basic and translational biomedical research of molecular biology, molecular genetics, and cell biology, including but not limited to cell proliferation and apoptosis, signal transduction, stem cell biology, developmental biology, gene regulation and epigenetics, cancer biology, immunity and infection, neuroscience, disease-specific animal models, gene and cell-based therapies, and regenerative medicine.

Genes & Immunity emphasizes studies that demonstrate genetic, genomic or functional variation in the immune system, and assist our understanding of how the basic control over the immune system varies between individuals both in health and disease. The emerging role for genes outside the MHC will be of particular interest.

Genes to Cells provides an international forum for the publication of papers describing important aspects of molecular and cellular biology. The journal aims to present papers that provide conceptual advance in the relevant field. Particular emphasis will be placed on work aimed at understanding the basic mechanisms underlying biological events.

Genes, Chromosomes & Cancer will offer rapid publication of original full-length research articles , perspectives , reviews , letters to the editors , as well as editorial commentaries on genetic analysis as related to the study of neoplasia. Particular emphasis will be placed on work combining molecular and cytogenetic analyses of the genomic alterations of cancer cells. While preference will be given to research using analytical approaches, descriptive studies and case reports will also be welcomed, particularly when they offer insights regarding basic biologic mechanisms or the clinical management of neoplastic disorders. Genetic Epidemiology is a peer-reviewed journal for discussion of research on the genetic causes of the distribution of human traits in families and populations. Emphasis is placed on the relative contribution of genetic and environmental factors to human disease as revealed by genetic, epidemiological, and biologic investigations. Incorporation of underlying biology and population genetics into conceptual models is favored. The Journal seeks original articles comprising either applied research or innovative statistical, computational, or genomic methodologies that advance studies in genetic epidemiology. Other types of reports are encouraged, such as letters to the editor, topic reviews, and perspectives from other fields of research that will likely enrich the field of genetic epidemiology.

Genetic Testing and Molecular Biomarkers is the leading peer-reviewed journal covering all aspects of genetic testing including molecular biomarkers. This journal is a forum for the development of new technology; the application of testing to decision making in an increasingly varied set of clinical situations; ethical, legal, social, and economic aspects of genetic testing; and issues concerning effective genetic counseling.With more than 3,000 genes identified, and over 4,000 diseases caused by genetic defects, genetic testing has become an increasingly important part of medical practice. Geospatial Health is the official journal of the Global Network of Geospatial Health (www.GnosisGIS.org) which was founded as the result at a Team Residency at the Rockefeller Foundation's Study and Conference Center Bellagio (Italy), April 10-14, 2000. The focus of the journal is on all aspects of the application of geographic information systems, remote sensing and other spatial analysis tools in human and veterinary health.
