Journal of Theoretical Biology

ISSN: 0022-5193

The Journal of Theoretical Biology is the leading forum for theoretical perspectives that give insight into biological processes. It covers a very wide range of topics and is of interest to biologists in many areas of research, including:• Cell Biology• Developmental Biology• Ecology• Evolution• Immunology• Infectious Diseases• Mathematical Modeling, Statistics, and Data Bases• Medical Sciences and Plant Pathology• Microbiology, Molecular Biology, and Biochemistry• PhysiologyPlease note that the biological significance of the problem being studied should be clearly stated.Acceptable papers are those that bear significant importance on the biology being presented, and not on the mathematical analysis, per se. Papers that include some data will be considered, including those that contain comparative study, statistical data analysis, mathematical proof, computer simulations, experiments, field observations, or even philosophical arguments, which are all methods to support or reject theoretical ideas. However, there should be a concerted effort to make papers intelligible to biologists in the chosen field.Highly speculative papers not based on current biological knowledge will not be accepted. Also not acceptable are papers in which only mathematics is utilized, or standard statistical methods are applied to existing genomic data, without new theoretical perspective or biologically novel insight.Comment on theoretical issues or on papers published in the journal is welcomed in the form of Letters to the Editors.Benefits to authorsWe also provide many author benefits, such as free PDFs, a liberal copyright policy, special discounts on Elsevier publications and much more. Journal of Topology

ISSN: 1753-8416eISSN: 1753-8424

The Journal of Topology publishes papers of high quality and significance in topology, geometry and adjacent areas of mathematics. Interesting, important and often unexpected links connect topology and geometry with many other parts of mathematics, and the editors welcome submissions on exciting new advances concerning such links, as well as those in the core subject areas of the Journal. The Journal of Topology will appear in quarterly issues with articles posted individually online, and will be made freely available online in its first year. The London Mathematical Society began publishing research papers in 1865 and over time has published the best of British mathematics having developed an internationally renowned reputation as one of the best publishers of high quality mathematics in the world today. The journals attract authors from over eighty countries and the number of papers submitted to the journals has grown enormously in recent years, enabling the Society to select and publish some of the best mathematical research currently available. Journal of the American Mathematical Society

ISSN: 0894-0347eISSN: 1088-6834

The AMS has published peer-reviewed journals of the highest quality in mathematical research for over 100 years. Each journal is unique in its offering of articles, book reviews, and reports. And each is managed by editors who are prominent in their fields. In addition to publishing and distributing printed journals, the AMS offers searchable electronic versions. Articles are posted before they are included in an issue, so the electronic versions are available prior to the print versions.

The Journal of the European Mathematical Society (JEMS) is the official journal of the EMS. The Society, founded in 1990, works at promoting joint scientific efforts between the many different structures that characterize European mathematics. JEMS will publish research articles in all active areas of pure and applied mathematics. These will be selected by a distinguished, international board of editors for their outstanding quality and interest, according to the highest international standards. Occasionally, substantial survey papers on topics of exceptional interest will also be published. Starting in 1999, the Journal has been published by Springer-Verlag until the end of 2003. Since 2004 it is published by the EMS Publishing House. The first Editor-in-Chief of the Journal was J. Jost, succeeded by H. Brezis in 2003.

Journal of the Royal Statistical Society, Series A (Statistics in Society)

ISSN: 0964-1998eISSN: 1467-985X

The aim of Series A is to publish papers that demonstrate how statistical thinking, design and analyses play a vital role in all walks of life and benefit society in general. There is no restriction on subject-matter: any interesting, topical and revelatory applications of statistics are welcome. For example, important applications of statistical methods in medicine, business and commerce, industry, economics and finance, education and teaching, physical and biomedical sciences, the environment, the law, government and politics, demography, psychology, sociology and sport all fall within the journal's remit. The journal is therefore aimed at a wide statistical audience and at professional statisticians in particular. Its emphasis is on well-written and clearly reasoned quantitative approaches to problems in the real world rather than the exposition of technical detail. Thus, although the methodological basis of papers must be sound and adequately explained, methodology per se should not be the main focus of a Series A paper. Of particular interest are papers on topical or contentious statistical issues, papers which give reviews or exposes of current statistical concerns and papers which demonstrate how appropriate statistical thinking has contributed to our understanding of important substantive questions. Historical, professional and biographical contributions are also welcome as are discussions of methods of data collection and of ethical issues, provided that all such papers have substantial statistical relevance. Discussion papers.

Journal of the Royal Statistical Society, Series B (Statistical Methodology)

ISSN: 1369-7412eISSN: 1467-9868

The Journal of the Royal Statistical Society, Series B (Statistical Methodology), aims to publish high quality papers on the methodological aspects of statistics. The objective of papers should be to contribute to the understanding of statistical methodology and/or to develop and improve statistical methods; any mathematical theory should be directed towards these aims. The kinds of contribution considered include descriptions of new methods of collecting or analysing data, with the underlying theory, an indication of the scope of application and preferably a real example. Also considered are comparisons, critical evaluations and new applications of existing methods, contributions to probability theory which have a clear practical bearing (including the formulation and analysis of stochastic models), statistical computation or simulation where original methodology is involved and original contributions to the foundations of statistical science. Reviews of methodological techniques are also considered. A paper, even if correct and well presented, is likely to be rejected if it only presents straightforward special cases of previously published work, if it is of mathematical interest only, if it is too long in relation to the importance of the new material that it contains or if it is dominated by computations or simulations of a routine nature. Discussion papers.
