Alarge body of research in economics, information systems, and marketing has sought to understand sources of price dispersion. Previous empirical work has mainly offered consumer- and/or product-based explanations for this phenomenon. In contrast, our research explores the key role played by vendors' price-format adoption in explaining price dispersion. We empirically analyze over a half-million online and offline prices offered by major U.S. airlines in the top 500 domestic markets. Our study shows that a vendor's price format remains an important source of price dispersion in both channels even after accounting for other factors known to impact dispersion in airline ticket prices. Importantly, this finding is true for both transacted and posted tickets. We document several other interesting empirical findings. First, the lower variance in the prices of "everyday low price" (EDLP) firms serves to reduce the market-level dispersion in prices when such firms are present. Moreover, the price variance of non-EDLP firms in these markets is also lower than in those markets in which EDLP competitors are absent. Second, we also find that dispersion in offered prices increases closer to the departure date, which is consistent with theoretical assertion that price dispersion increases with reservation prices. Finally, we continue to observe dispersion of online prices even after accounting for vendor strategy and other known sources of dispersion, suggesting that the prices are unlikely to converge even in the presence of sophisticated online search mechanisms.

Understanding the relationships between information technologies and social organization is an increasingly important and urgent social and scholarly concern in many disciplinary fields.Information and Organization seeks to publish original scholarly articles on the relationships between information technologies and social organization. It seeks a scholarly understanding that is based on empirical research and relevant theory. Information and Organization also seeks to advance established and emerging theoretical arguments through the publication of papers that review empirical research and provide directions for future research and theory development. Essays that provoke critical thinking on important subjects are also sought. La revista INNOVAR, revista de Ciencias Administrativas y Sociales, es la publicación de la Escuela de Administración de Empresas y Contaduría Pública de la Facultad de Ciencias Económicas de la Universidad Nacional de Colombia, sede Bogotá. INNOVAR , surgió como revista académica de los departamentos de Gestión Empresarial y Finanzas de la Facultad de Ciencias Económicas de la Universidad Nacional de Colombia en 1991, con el propósito de servir como medio de difusión de los trabajos de investigación en el campo de la administración de empresas y de la contaduría pública. Está dirigida a estudiantes, docentes e investigadores interesados en temas teóricos, empíricos, y prácticos de las ciencias sociales y administrativas.Durante los tres primeros números tuvo una periodicidad anual. A partir de 1993 cambió su nombre a INNOVAR, revista de ciencias administrativas y sociales y su periodicidad se incrementó a dos números anuales. El tiraje de cada edición es de 1000 ejemplares, que circulan nacional e internacionalmente bajo las modalidades de suscripción, canje institucional y venta al público a través de distribuidores comerciales en las principales librerías del país.

Innovation' is the generation and application of new ideas and skills to produce new products, processes and services that improve economic and social prosperity. The journal's scope encompasses innovation research, policy analysis and best practice in large, medium and small enterprises, public and private sector service organizations, local, state and national government, urban, rural and regional societies and economies with special emphasis on linking academic research to future practice. Intereconomics publishes papers dealing with economic and social policy issues in Europe respectively in Euroland. The journal consists of the sections editorial, forum and articles. The editorial section contains brief comments on current questions of economic policy in Europe or effecting Europe. In the forum, several authors (researchers, politicians, representatives of trade unions and of employers associations etc.) voice their opinions on one particular current economic policy problem effecting Europe. International Economics, is devoted to the publication of high quality papers dealing with a wide range of issues related to international economics. The journal especially welcomes empirical contributions that include but are not limited to topics in international trade, commercial policy, open macroeconomics and international finance, migration and factor movements. Most published papers make use of formal economic models and/or formal econometrics. However, the journal will also consider review articles and case studies on original subjects provided they are of extremely high quality.The current turnaround time to a first decision is 39 days, with an approximate acceptance rate of 12%. The International Entrepreneurship and Management Journal (IEMJ) provides a venue for high quality manuscripts dealing with entrepreneurship in its broadest sense and the management of entrepreneurial organizations. The editorial board encourages manuscripts that are international in scope; however, readers can also find papers investigating domestic issues with global relevance.
