Established in 1946, Biologia publishes high-quality research papers in the fields of microbial, plant and animal sciences. Microbial sciences papers span all aspects of Bacteria, Archaea and microbial Eucarya including biochemistry, cellular and molecular biology, genomics, proteomics and bioinformatics. Plant sciences topics include fundamental research in taxonomy, geobotany, genetics and all fields of experimental botany including cellular, whole-plant and community physiology. Zoology coverage includes animal systematics and taxonomy, morphology, ecology and physiology from cellular to molecular level. Each issue offers papers from all the above-mentioned fields of biology, presenting original experimental, methodological or theoretical research. Under Editor-in-Chief F. Hindák, of Bratislava, Slovakia, each section has its own Editorial Board. The journal also publishes invited and some unsolicited review articles, and short and preliminary communications of outstanding importance.

Biological Cybernetics is an interdisciplinary medium for experimental, theoretical and application-oriented aspects of information processing in organisms, including sensory, motor, cognitive, and ecological phenomena. Topics covered include: experimental studies of biological systems including quantitative modeling; computational, technical, or theoretical studies with relevance for understanding biological information processing; and artificial implementation of biological information processing and self-organizing principles. Under the main aspects of performance and function of systems, emphasis is laid on communication between life sciences and technical/theoretical disciplines.   

Biological Invasions publishes research and synthesis papers on patterns and processes of biological invasions in terrestrial, freshwater, and marine (including brackish) ecosystems. Also of interest are scholarly papers on management and policy issues as they relate to conservation programs and the global amelioration or control of invasions. Biological Procedures Online is an open access, peer-reviewed journal which publishes articles that improve access to techniques and methods in the medical and biological sciences. Articles feature step-by-step protocols that allow researchers to implement methods in 'cookbook' fashion at the bench top. Biological Procedures Online transferred to BioMed Central in 2011.

BIOLOGICAL RESEARCH (former title, "Archivos de Biología y Medicina Experimentales") is the official journal of the Chilean Biology Society. Biological Trace Element Research provides a much-needed central forum for the emergent, interdisciplinary field of research on the biological, environmental, and biomedical roles of trace elements. Rather than confine itself to biochemistry, the journal emphasizes the integrative aspects of trace metal research in all appropriate fields, publishing human and animal nutritional studies devoted to the fundamental chemistry and biochemistry at issue as well as to the elucidation of the relevant aspects of preventive medicine, epidemiology, clinical chemistry, agriculture, endocrinology, animal science, pharmacology, microbiology, toxicology, virology, marine biology, sensory physiology, developmental biology, and related fields.

Biology and Fertility of Soils publishes in English original papers, reviews and short communications on all fundamental and applied aspects of biology – microflora and microfauna - and fertility of soils. Biomechanics and Modeling in Mechanobiology promotes basic and applied research that integrate knowledge in the allied fields of biomechanics and mechanobiology. The journal highlights approaches that are experimental, theoretical, or computational and that address phenomena at the nano, micro, or macro levels. This journal focuses on investigations that quantify the mechanical environment in health, disease, or injury, or identify and quantify mechanosensitive responses and their mechanisms. The journal also focuses on papers that detail interrelations between mechanics and biological processes or report discoveries that advance therapeutic and diagnostic procedures. Analytical and computational models based on solid mechanics, fluid mechanics, or thermomechanics and their interactions are strongly emphasized. In addition, the journal encourages reports on new experimental methods that expand measurement capabilities and new mathematical methods that facilitate analysis.
